Evergreen, Co

"Angelo Piras, formerly of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away on February 20, 2026. He was born in Tunis, Tunisia, in an abandoned bakery during World War II. Named Ange Sauveur—”Angel Savior”—by his parents as a symbol of hope amid hardship, he was born as Allied victory approached North Africa. At age three, he moved to the United States, later becoming a naturalized citizen and embracing the new beginnings that shaped his life.

Angelo was kindness embodied. He carried within him a warm and effortless humor; his laughter was contagious, often accompanied by a twinkle in his eye. He was our steady presence, our comfort, our heart. He will be profoundly missed and forever cherished. Preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Yolanda, and brother, John.

Survived by his wife, Mary Kay (Denver, CO), son Geoffrey (Wendy - Phoenix, AZ), daughters Adrienne (Frédéric -Lyon, France) and Carolyn (Joel - Denver, CO), his grandchildren : Anthony, Zachary, Lucien, Roman, James, Adélie and Dominic, many nieces and nephews, and relatives in the U.S., France and Italy.

An initial ceremony will take place on March 28th at Evergreen Memorial Park in Colorado with close friends and family. A funeral mass and burial will take place in Columbus, Ohio in May.
