Danette Kay Baxter, age 60, passed away at her home in Lakewood on June 25, 2021, after fighting a long battle with cancer.
Danette was born on July 31, 1960, in McCook Neb., to Betty and Jim Donohue. She graduated from McCook High School in 1979. Danette was a professional waitress for 30 years and retired at the age of 60.
Danette married David Baxter in 1981 at the United Methodist Church of McCook. Together they have three children, Kelsie, Chase, and Collin, and three grandchildren, Austin, Caleb and Amani.
Danette loved being with family and friends and loved putting together gatherings at her home. She also thoroughly loved her special time with her grandkids. She loved horses and loved to travel, of which one of her favorite places to go were the mountains. Danette touched many lives with her kindness and beautiful smile and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and James Donohue; brother, Jim Donohue; and father and mother-in-law, Jack and Miller Baxter.
Survivors include her husband, Dave Baxter of Denver; children, Kelsie (Luis), Chase and Collin Baxter; grandchildren, Austin, Caleb and Amani of Denver; sister, Angie (John) Plummer of Denver; brothers, Jon (Brenda) Donohue of McCook, Greg (DeDe) Donohue of Evergreen, Colo., and Farrell Donohue of McCook; brother-in-law, Fred (Susan) Baxter of Evergreen; sister-in-law Amy (Tim) Lane of Grand Junction; and sister-in-law, Traci (Allen) Watkins of Boulder, Colo.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on July 6, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Mountain High Christian Center, 8444 U.S. Highway 285, Morrison, CO 80465. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park.
