In Loving Memory of
Daniel Carter Benner
March 6, 1960 – August 11, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dan Benner, who passed away on August 11, 2026 in Bailey, Colorado. Dan lived a life defined by integrity, hard work, quiet faith, and unwavering loyalty.
Dan was a gifted craftsman with a remarkable ability to build, repair, and create. His passion was evident in every project he completed, each one reflecting his patience, precision, and pride in doing things well. Dan approached his work with skill, determination, and an eye for quality.
An adventurous spirit at heart, Dan found joy and peace outdoors. He loved skiing, hiking, exploring caves, and even hang gliding, embracing both the beauty and excitement of nature. Growing up in Evergreen, mountains and trails were among the places where he felt most at home.
Dan also shared a special bond with Golden Retrievers. Throughout his adult life, there was always a faithful Golden Retriever by his side. Whether on a hike, a road trip, or working around the house, his loyal companion was never far away. His love for these gentle dogs was one of the constants in his life.
Those who knew Dan understood that he was a quiet, private man. He wasn't one to seek attention or fill a room with conversation. Yet when he had something to say, he spoke honestly and without hesitation. Dan held strong convictions and wasn't afraid to share his opinions, always believing in standing by what he felt was right. Dan's faith was deeply personal, guiding the way he lived with honesty, humility, perseverance, and fair treatment of others.
Dan is proceeded in death by older brother Randall J. Benner (Penny); nephew Donald Benner; and nephew Jedediah Learned. He is survived by: sister Sandra Waller (Dan Flores); nephew Benjamin Waller (Heather); sister Joan Learned (Charles); nephew William Learned (Katherine); sister Judy Zugates (Terry); niece J’Nai Zugates; niece Holly Benner; half-sister Teri Benner; niece Teresa Benner; half-brother Christopher Benner (Tracey); nephew Garrison Benner (Katherine); and niece Gracie Benner.
Dan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his quiet strength, wisdom, craftsmanship, dry sense of humor, and values.
