Daniel Ryan Chase

March 18, 1977 — March 8, 2024

Daniel Ryan Chase, 46, of Pine, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2024 at his residence.   He was born on March 18, 1977, in Springfield, Massachusetts to William Chase and Linda (Swens) Chase.  Dan was a traveler throughout life, traversing from state to state along with overseas tours while enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman/IT.

Dan worked as a Senior Network Engineer within the gas and oil industry and prided himself on being as curious as possible about all aspects of work, the outdoors as well as home life; hoping to pick up as many nuggets of knowledge as possible along the way.   With a degree in Business, Dan was always sharp in acquiring opportunities to ensure a successful path towards financial freedom.

Dan’s passion in life was the outdoors.  Whether he was out hunting, fishing or scouting for his next hunt, Dan’s spirit for the outdoors as well as his love for animals was palpable.  Over the final year and a half of his life, he became an avid lover of llamas.  Dan was able to successfully cultivate a growing llama ranch on his property where he thrived with his 48 llamas, 14 Pyranees dogs and his beloved 2 German Short Hair Pointers.

Dan’s hard-working mentality, chill demeanor, kind heart and great sense of humor made him a joy to be around.  His two children, Remington (23), and Paxton (12) admired his charisma and appreciated his willingness to teach them about the magical spirit of wildlife as well as the outdoors.  Dan was married to his wife, Kerry Salter, for 23 years.  They met while stationed overseas in Naples, Italy and began their life together as enlisted sailors traveling from Naples, Italy to Bremerton, Washington, then to Northwest Washington, followed by their landing place of Pine, Colorado where they had hoped to conquer their dreams.  The adventures that Dan, Kerry, Remington and Paxton enjoyed together created incredible memories which will last a lifetime.

Dan’s wife, children and parents will miss him greatly.  Other special individual’s in Daniels life who will continue to feel the pain associated with the loss of his wonderful soul include his two sisters, Heather (Chase) Mendell and Lisa (Chase) Kayes of New York, along with his many brothers in life to include Matthew Schmidt and Todd Freeman, father and mother in law, William and Pamela Salter, two sister in laws, Corrina (Salter) Schmidt and Tina (Salter) Spangler, along with his brother in laws, Chris Mendell, Jeff Kayes and Kurt Spangler.  Daniel also leaves behind his beautiful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins as well as his many dear friends.

Daniel’s remains will be brought to his home where friends and family are able to pay their respects.
