On December 12, 2023, Darlene Ann Sheveland was escorted by angels into her biggest adventure and to her heavenly home. Always one for an adventure, Darlene and her husband, Earl traveled the world by planes, cruise ships, campers, vans, golf carts, sailboats, and many cars. After being born and raised in Wisconsin, Darlene and Earl were married in 1952 and headed west for the Rocky Mountains where they raised six children -- Scott (deceased), Gary (Pam) of Greeley, Mark (Beth) of Louisville, Shana (Al, deceased) of Colorado Springs, David (Fe) of Phoenix and John (Karla) of Colorado Springs. Darlene also had 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter. When not traveling, Darlene enjoyed time with her family, church activities, time with her camping groups and socializing in the lobby of her apartment building. Darlene was known for her beautiful smile (which she passed along to many in the family), her spunk, her Christmas fudge, her love of adventure, her tender heart and always having a story to share. Darlene's faith in God was evidenced by her many years of volunteering in her local church, the senior center, participating in short term missions trips and involvement with Gideons International.
The family is planning a graveside service at 10 a.m. on December 30, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Park, as well as a celebration of life in June at a backyard picnic. More details to come about the summer celebration, but everyone who loved Darlene is welcome. If you would like to honor Darlene's life through a donation, please consider Gideons International.
