David Earl “Dave” Thulin went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 29, 2025.
Dave was known for his compassionate heart, his wonderful sense of humor, his love for singing, and his mad duct tape skills.
He and his twin brother Chuck were born on March 31, 1938, in Kenilworth IL to Earl and Ann Mary Thulin. He then attended New Trier High School in Winnetka IL and then earned his BS degree at Indiana University. There he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and even rode in three Little 500 Bike races.
He also met the love of his life while at IU, Janice Kuhn and they were married December 31, 1960. Together, they had 3 sons, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren whom they loved dearly and were exceptionally proud. His favorite name became “Papa”. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jan Kuhn Thulin, their sons Rusty (Kim), Dan (Karrie) and Scott (Lisa) Thulin. Grandchildren whom he adored: Cody (Chloe), Katelyn (Rob) , Lexie, Dawson, McKenna (Wyatt) and Kelton (Faith). 4 great grandchildren: Dominik, Cambree, Rae, and Wesley.
His welcoming committee in Heaven included his parents, Earl and Ann Mary. His sister Gene, his twin Chuck and his wife Mary, his nephew Tom, niece Lisa and great nephew Andrew, as well as many other family and friends.
Dave served in the Army and then began his career as a Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Agent. He then found his way to his beloved mountains and owned several Burger Chef Restaurants, located in the towns of Evergreen, Northglenn, Glenwood Springs, Denver, Longmont and Cheyenne Wyoming. He named his company Rocky Mountain Manna, to honor God for the food that they served. He ended his career owning a franchise called Wheelchair Getaways Van Rentals which showcased his caring heart.
Dave loved both participating and watching sports. He was as comfortable on his bike as he was on his horse. He would always root for his Indiana Hoosiers, but became an avid Denver Broncos fan. He loved spending time with his family at the lake.
But most of all he loved his Lord. Dave was a member of the Rockland Community Church. He was a loyal member of the Tuesday Morning Men’s Bible Study for over 48 years. He also found great joy in visiting people in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living communities which brought smiles to many.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at Rockland Community Church on Wednesday July 30th at 11am.
