On the morning of January 18, 2026, Diane Gunn Schranz passed away at the age of 89 in her home in Morrison, Colorado. Diane was born April 30, 1936, and was adopted early in life by Basil and Georgia Gunn.
Diane attended North High School in Denver and graduated with the class of 1954. She met her husband, Carl Schranz IV at North High and they married on September 16, 1956. They had 2 sons, Donald Carl and Kenneth Lee.
While raising her sons, Diane volunteered with the Cub Scouts. She was also involved in the Class of 1954 reunion planning committee. She also spent many years volunteering for the Inter-Canyon Fire Department.
Diane was primarily a stay-at-home mom for Don and Ken. She also worked part-time doing office management for her husband’s company, Creative Illumination.
Known for her love of nature, she specifically adored animals and flowers. She had many pets over the years including dogs, birds, cats, and horses. She enjoyed living in the mountains mainly because of her love of wildlife. In her younger years, she spent a lot of time at her parents’ cabin on Wellington Lake.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law (Constance Schranz), and husband, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her sons Don and Ken Schranz. She is also survived by her grandchildren Darcy (Daniel) Vooijs, Gail (Jeffery Curtis) Poor, and Neal (Naomi) Schranz and great-grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Jett, Claire, Brooklynn, Micah, and Mia.
A service to celebrate Diane’s life will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Evergreen Memorial Park. The address is 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road Evergreen, CO 80439. A private family burial will be at 9:30 am and a public service will be held at 10:00 am followed by a reception.
