Gary Charles Christoffersen died Monday, September 22, 2025, in Colorado.

Gary was born on October 20, 1946, in New York. He grew up on Long Island and after completing two years of junior college on Long Island Gary transferred to Denver University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in art and advertising.

Upon graduation Gary backpacked through Europe taking odd jobs on fishing boats in Greece and painting signs in Norway and Sweden.

Returning to Denver, Gary briefly worked selling advertising before opening his own advertising agency Gary Christy and Associates.

In 1987 Gary combined his talents for marketing and sales with his love for big game hunting adventures and founded Day One Camouflage. Gary operated Day One Camouflage until it’s sale in 2025.

Throughout his life Gary enjoyed hunting and nonhunting adventures from Mongolia to Africa, Alaska to South America learning new cultures, eating new foods, hearing new languages but most importantly soaking the wonder of the natural world around him.

Gary survived by his wife, Susan Christoffersen (O’Brien), his sister June O’Dea (Richard), brother Paul Christoffersen, brother in law, Marti Barden (O’Brien) and family, brother in law, Michael O’Brien (Becky). He was preceded in death by his sister in law Patti Vanderpool (O’Brien) and brother in law, Bob Barden.
