It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Jean Anne Charbonneau, who passed away on May 23, 2025 at her home in Evergreen, Colorado. A dedicated teacher and a loving inspiration to her family and friends, she touched many lives with her kindness and wisdom and will be greatly missed.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Colorado who spent her early years in Aurora attending Lansing Elementary, South Jr High and Aurora Central High School, Class of 72. A friend to all with a warm and kind personality the Charbonneau house was a social headquarters of sorts, throughout the mid-1960s and early 1970s.

Jeans white husky Shiska and Mother Madge were particularly patient and welcoming to all of Jeans friends who assembled there for school fundraisers, parties and pre-concert gatherings. Her laugh was constant and contagious. She always put people at ease with her easy-going nature.

Jean continued her education at University of Northern Colorado, BA Early Childhood Education, 1975 -1977, Metro State College of Denver, BS Behavioral Sciences, 1991 – 1993, Regis University, MA Education, 1994 – 1995.

She was very active, loved horses, doing anything in the mountains including skiing and going to concerts etc. She married her high school boyfriend Don Haubert and they welcomed their son Jesse Haubert in early 1974.

Living in Evergreen most of her adult life, in addition to teaching she was particularly enthusiastic about sewing and made hundreds of designer blankets over the years. She later married Gordon Gustafson and their son Nicholas “Nick” passed away unexpectedly on Aug 14, 2010, at age 25, regretfully preceding her in death. Throughout the difficult years that followed she remained astoundingly resilient with a positive and thoughtful attitude. She loved the ocean and was able to visit her granddaughter Maddie in Florida several times. Jean is survived by her son Jesse and Stacy Haubert and granddaughters Lola Haubert and Maddison Gustafson.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on June 28, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Church of The Hills in Evergreen Colorado. We invite all who knew her to join us in honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hearts & Horses therapeutic riding center in Loveland Colorado, for those with physical and cognitive disabilities, in her name.
