John Carl Nicholas 71 years old was born on November 6, 1953, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, from complications of ALS. During his last days he was surrounded with love from his family and friends.
John was a loving, devoted and affectionate husband to Anna. He was an amazing step-father to Matthew and Rose, always there for help and advice, and an awesome grandfather to Drayzen and Griffin with so much joy and love. He was such an intelligent man, and our family was so lucky to have him in our lives for his kind heart. He will be missed every single day.
John was born in San Antonio, Texas. His father was an army surgeon. John spent time while growing up in Berlin, Colorado and Okinawa. After his dad passed away his mother settled in Colorado.
John retired from Colorado Department of Transportation after 30 years. He loved living in the foothills of Colorado where he enjoyed mountain biking and his favorite was single track riding in Buffalo Creek. He was an animal lover but especially enjoyed dogs. His interests were traveling, going to the theater and photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Carl and Anna Rose, his brother Theodore and his sister Katherine. He survives by his sister Patricia and his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on October 13, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial Park in the barn at 1:00pm. Please wear bright and colorful clothing in remembrance of John.
