Juanita (Nita) Joy Rooney, passed away peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by her husband Tim Rooney, son Jeffrey and sister Frances on August 23, 2026 at St, Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. Juanita was born in Burbank, California. She was the youngest of the four children of Paul and Dorothy Sanders of Independence, Missouri. Juanita was a 1963 graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She and her husband, Tim, were able to fulfill a lifetime dream by moving to Colorado and settling in the Conifer area. She was able to enjoy her life spending time riding horses with her friends at Anchorage Farm, enjoying nature and reading. In addition to raising her family, she served her community in the capacity of civil servant, working for the local branch of the United States Postal Service. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Dorothy, son Brandon Rooney, her brother Raymond Sanders of Issaquah, Washington and her sister Pauline Parrino of Independence, Missouri. She is survived by her husband Tim of 57 years, son Jeffrey Rooney, sister Frances Heinlein and numerous nephews, nieces and their families. Her strong spirit, dedication to family and sense of humor will forever be remembered and admired. She was the Grand Matriarch of the Rooney family.

Juanita will be honored by a casual friendship gathering and laid to rest at a date to be determined.
