Our beloved mother, Mescal “Miki” Knoll, breathed her last earthly breath and passed on to the open arms of her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2025
Miki was born in Brush, CO on March 28, 1935, to James and Avalon McMillion.
As a child her family lived on the eastern plains of CO as well as Boulder and Denver.
In the mid 40’s her family moved to Evergreen, CO where they ran the Elk Hotel. It was during this time that Miki met a handsome young cowboy named Lester Knoll. At 12 years of age, she told her mother that when she grew up, she was going to marry that cowboy. On June 24, 1953, Lester and Miki were married beneath the bell tower at Evergreen’s Church of the Transfiguration. They were married over 40 years until Lester’s untimely death in 1996.
They started their family of four children in Evergreen. Being a mother was one of the greatest joys in her life.
In 1960 the family moved to Mt Vernon Country Club where Lester accepted a job as the club’s superintendent. The years at MVCC were some of Miki’s favorite memories. She loved being a young mother and being involved in every part of her children’s lives. The Knoll home was the gathering place for many of the neighborhood kids as Miki always had homemade treats. She hosted many dinner parties and loved cooking for others. Food and cooking for others was her love language. She was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls.
The family moved to Walden, CO briefly where Miki learned how to be a ranch wife. She enjoyed living on a ranch, the livestock, the outdoor lifestyle and life in a small town. She was always involved in her children's activities and school functions, as well as helping on the ranch. As always, she was cooking for others. During branding season, she would get up at the crack of dawn to prepare pounds of Rocky Mountain oysters for the ranch hands!
In 1973 the family moved back home to Evergreen.
Miki worked for many years as an office manager and receptionist for several different physicians in Evergreen, including Dr’s Hollister and O’Leary and Dr Sealby. The patients loved her very much and she maintained friendships with many of them over the years. She was a people person and loved being in public. She ended her medical career working for an OB/GYN in Wheatridge. To this day she kept in touch with many of the patients and their families.
Miki was a decades-long member of the Evergreen Christian Church and more recently Flatirons Community Church. She volunteered with joy in her heart. Her love of Jesus was the driving force in her life. She radiated His light with everything she did. Miki was a dedicated servant of the Lord and was never shy about telling others about Him.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and sister.
Her legacy was that of love. She adored her Savior Jesus Christ, her family and her friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her precious sister Collie Balek, and her beloved husband Lester Knoll.
Miki is survived by her children: Mike (Terrie) Knoll, Grand Junction, Chris (Jeff) Chase, Evergreen, Cid MacDonald, Evergreen, Jim (Sharon) Knoll, Superior
