Ronald Powell Lewis

October 23, 1933 — February 14, 2026

Evergreen, Colorado

Ronald Powell Lewis (92) of Evergreen passed away February 14, 2026, following a quick decline in health. He was born on October 23, 1933, in Denver, Colorado. Despite a challenging childhood marked by his father’s gambling and volatile alcoholic behavior, Ron developed a strong work ethic and deep religious faith. He became a standout athlete at North High School and eventually put himself through Colorado A&M (now CSU) in Ft. Collins by building log cabins in Red Feather Lakes and Evergreen. Ron married Carol Norman in December 1955 after a persistent and short courtship that began in their college youth group. Early in their marriage they moved to Forest Heights in Evergreen and took in several emotionally disturbed boys from a local treatment center, at one point housing six teenagers simultaneously. Ron was a prolific builder and a visionary developer in the Evergreen area. For the first eleven years of marriage, the family moved nine times, living in the homes as Ron finished building them before selling and moving to the next. In 1965, Ron founded Evergreen Memorial Park. Despite being called the "Town Fool" for the idea, he successfully established the cemetery on property that previously struggled to sell. He was the force behind several subdivisions, including Buffalo Park Estates, Arapahoe Park Estates, Bear Mountain Vista, Rio Grand Estates, Wilderness Ranches, The Homestead, and Cragmont Estates. In the early 2000’s Ron moved three historic barns to Evergreen Memorial Park where they were, “Barn Again,” to create The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park. Ron was a founding member of Aspen Ridge Church in 1965. Ron (was preceded in death by his wife Carol, grandson Tobin Lewis) and sister Betty (Warren) Kirkley. He is survived by sons Norman (Kathy) of Morrison and Eugene (Amy) of Evergreen, and daughter Ronna (Rodney) Adams of Grand Junction; grandchildren Ron (Alisa) Lewis, Charissa (Jeremy) Jones, Tobin, deceased, (Meredith) Lewis, Cody (Brittany) Lewis, Benaiah Adams, Jaymee (Phil) Vandekerkhoff, Micah Adams, Hannah (Gabriel) Gordon, David (Jennifer) Lewis Cornish, Jedidiah (Shannon) Adams, Anthony Lewis, and Sarah Adams; great grandchildren Brady, Brooks, and Reese Lewis, Katelyn, Josiah & Kenza Jones, Lydia, Nora, and Eliana Lewis, Teagan & Emme Lewis, and Imogen & Wren Adams, Viola Vandekerkhoff, Aubrey Cornish, Baby Gordon; brother Howard (Linda) Norman of Windsor, brother David Lewis Washington D.C., sister Carol Marie Heller of Westminster; and many, many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families, and all of his faithful friends
