Scott Bissett passed away May 22, 2026. Born in Dayton, Ohio in 1960, he graduated from Kettering Fairmont East High School (1979) and Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) (1983). After his studies, he settled in Denver, Colorado. He worked for many years handling financial and administrative duties for several local La‑Z‑Boy retail stores. He took early retirement in 2020.
Scott lived a quiet and private life. He traveled widely across the United States and Europe, with a particular appreciation for national parks and cultural institutions. His interests included reading, outdoor activities, and hands‑on craft projects. He also devoted time to computer gaming, jigsaw puzzles, and watching professional sports. He’ll be remembered most for his dry sense of humor and sharp wit.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Bissett and Marilyn L. Bissett (née Blaho) of Kettering, Ohio. He is survived by his brother, Steven Bissett of Carrollton, Texas, and by his nephew, Karl Bissett, and niece, Rachel Stefancic, both of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by several cousins from the Bissett and Blaho families.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations in honor of Scott, to his favorite charity, Colorado Public Radio, an NPR station.
