Sharon Marie Gilman

Sharon Marie Gilman (Siler) of Shawnee, Colorado. Went to be with her LORD and SAVIOR, Jesus Christ, on July 27, 2026.

In June of 2021, Sharon was found to be in the early stages of Dementia. Thankfully she was able to be cared for at home until May of 2026. Care was continued through April of 2026, about 5 years, however by that time the debilitating “fog of Dementia” was over taking her, and she could no longer safely be cared for at home.

She was moved to a memory care facility in Lakewood, Colorado, an hour from Shawnee. This allowed Jim, Kim, family and friends to still be with her regularly. Sharon’s health continued to decline and on Monday, July 27th, with Jim & Kim by her side, she went to be with Jesus, “To God Be the Glory!” The 5-year battle with Dementia was over. Amen.

Sharon was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 19, 1942. The only child of James and Elizabeth Siler, who were born and raised in Williamsburg, Kentucky. They moved to Detroit after the Second World War for better job opportunities. They lived in the inner city of Detroit and then moved into a home in the suburbs. When Sharon was 13 years old she accepted the LORD JESUS as her savior, and that dramatically changed her life forever.

Sharon at age 15, started going to Grand River Ave. Baptist Church, where she became part of the youth program. At another Church in Detroit, there was an 18-year-old young man named Jim Gilman. They were married in Detroit, MI on July 25, 1964, Sharon was 21 and Jim was 25 years old. Prior to their marriage, Sharon graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA degree. Elementary Education and Psychology were her majors. After their marriage in 1964, they lived in Detroit until August of 1965.

Then after 4 relocation moves and 5 different church homes around the county. Sharon finally settled in Shawnee, Colorado , the foothills West of Denver in 1977.

Sharon is survived by her loving Husband, Jim. Daughter, Kimberly Michelle Miller-1969 (Neil Miller- 1973), Moses Ocean James Miller-2007, Sereyana Sky Miller-2009, and Elijah Ruach Miller-2014.

Son, Kevin James Gilman-1971 (Shannon Marie Gilman-Carraway)- 1976, Rachel Elizabeth Gilman-1995 (Michael Homan)-, Cara Marie Gilman-1996, Lauren Kimberly Gilman-1999, Chadwick James Gilman-2001.

In 2018 Sharon wrote a book,” Just Like That,“ for her family and had it published by amazon.

The following is what Sharon wrote on the back cover of her book.

Many, O Lord my God are the wonders You have done. Things You planned for us no one can recount to You; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be to many to declare. Psalm 40:5

This book is a testimony of God’s presence and reality in my life. It has been a joy and a privilege to recount these evidences of His love for me. My prayer is that each person who reads this testimony will accept God’s plan for salvation through Jesus and accept Him as the Lord and Savior. May they also have a wonderful, intimate relationship with God and know that their lives are important to Him.

I’m Certain every child of God will be called upon to bear witness to God’s gracious, active presence in their lives. This is the witness I bear, and I’m compelled to share it and join the throngs of others who have undeniably experienced the loving hand of God.

May the Lord bless you as you read my history-“His story” of my life. It is a legacy and testament to His goodness and the intimate, loving-kindness He has for each one of us.

Finally, In 1992 Sharon was able to fulfill God’s dream that can to her back in 1969 in California, to build a Pastor’s Retreat on her own property. And for 30 years she was able to serve Pastor’s and their families in what she called the Carriage House.
