Shirley Lynn Schwein

SCHWEIN, SHIRLEY LYNN 76, of Evergreen, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015. Shirley was born in Denver on April 3, 1939, and was a “beloved child of God”. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lucille Kenyon, her sister Sheri Parish and her son John Schwein who died at birth. Shirley is survived by her former husband, James “Jim” Schwein of Evergreen; son Mike Schwein of Lakewood, his former wife Kathy McCartney of Lakewood and grandchildren David and Daniel Schwein; son Tom Schwein and wife Susan of Highlands Ranch; grandchildren Tara, Tyler, Kendra and Kirby; daughter Traci Schwein-Coff and husband Mike of Evergreen, and twin grandchildren Brooke and Harry. Additionally, she was also blessed to have three great-grandchildren Thomas, Dominic and Kolby Bauman from her granddaughter Tara Bauman and husband Lyle. She “loved those babies”. She worked for Jefferson County Public Schools for 15 years and for Evergreen Metropolitan District for 7 years. She was a member of the Mountain Rendezvous Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mountain Genealogy Society, Evergreen Miniature Guild, and the Clan Montgomery Society. She also learned how to fly a single engine Piper Warrior in the 1980’s. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations in her name be made to either Mt. Evans Home Health Care & Hospice or Evergreen Senior’s Resource Center. Many of the people who worked and volunteered at these two places were very helpful and supportive of Shirley and we are very grateful to them. Shirley, Mom, or Nana as her grandchildren & great-grandchildren called her is loved and will be missed. A Mass and Life Celebration will be held later and is tentatively planned for Saturday, November 28th in Evergreen, CO. Specific details will be provided here once finalized. Everyone who had the pleasure and honor of knowing her is invited.
