Susan Friesen’s was celebrated arrival in paradise this past Wednesday July 26th. She was born to Alice Mae Wenckas and Lawrence Wheelock and would have celebrated her 70th birthday this August 8th.
She had a family of five sisters, a brother, and her husband Jerry with who she shared 34th years of partnership. Who also had six sisters which was a bond that brought Susan and Jerry together.
Susan and Jerry were accustomed to taking trips to the mountains, shores, and desert, breathing in all the joy of God’s creation and on occasion meeting with a bear or two.
Susan and Jerry moved to Colorado a second time in 2015 after establishing a successful locksmithing business in California. She was an avid gardener, who grew herbs where she created tinctures and essential oils. In her journey to Colorado, she helped managed the Mercantile/Emporium in Conifer.
Their home has always been open to anyone who comes knocking. She and Jerry built a greenhouse dome and constructed a two-story beamed addition to their personal treasured resort in Bailey overlooking what she described as her own national park.
Susan would be described as a resourceful, Savvy, and an engaging individual. She had a sacrificial heart and a never-ending care for her family and friends. She would always extend herself no matter the circumstances or timing. To her nieces and nephews, she was a second Mom with opened acceptance, a genuine heart to listen and to know them. She will be missed and forever loved.
