Susan Pauline Lams Wuertley

Sue Wuertley of Evergreen, CO, passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2023. Sue grew up in Mt. Prospect, IL., attended St. Paul Lutheran Elementary School, Mt. Prospect High School, and Concordia Lutheran Teachers' College, Seward, NE, where she graduated in June 1969. Sue taught elementary school in Wausau, WI, Fremont, NE, and Montbello, CO, before moving to Evergreen in 1986 to help her father care for her invalid mother. Sue married Carl Wuertley in 2012, who preceded her in death in 2015. Left to mourn her passing are her sisters, Norinne (the late James) Cornwell, Highland, IN; Judith (Richard) Cornwell, Lakewood, CO; her sisters' children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. Preceded in death, besides Carl, are her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Floyd Holste, and her parents, Theodore and Hildegarde Lams. A private committal service was held July 21, at Evergreen Memorial Park, with nieces Diane Greenman, Donna Phelps and members of Evergreen Lutheran Church present. Pastor Terry Schjang officiated.
