Susan Zouski, born Susan Rupp on January 5, 1949, to Hans Albert Rupp and Esther Virginia Preston, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in the Evergreen, Colorado home her father built — the same home where she was raised.
Susan graduated from Evergreen High School in 1967 and went on to attend the University of Northern Colorado for a period of time. A strong, fierce, and independent woman, she eventually followed her adventurous spirit to Alaska, where she worked on a friend’s horse ranch. There, she rode snowmobiles, worked the land, and embraced the rugged lifestyle — and it was in Alaska that she met the love of her life, Thomas Zouski.
Susan and Thomas were married on August 5, 1972, at Christ the King Church in Evergreen. From the moment he met her, his world changed — captivated by her beauty, her strength, and her spirit.
Together, they built a loving family, raising two children, Justin and Erika. They also opened their home to their nephew, Christopher, at an early age and helped raise him as one of their own for many years.
Justin is married to Meredith, and they are the proud parents of three children — Avery, Kaitlyn, and Nathan. Erika is blessed with two children — Hailey and Samuel. Susan was also a cherished great-grandmother to Wyatt, Hailey’s son. Christopher is married to Edelle, and they have two children — Kruger and Kellen.
Susan touched the lives of everyone she met. Her contagious laugh and heartwarming smile lit up every room. She had an extraordinary gift for compassion, always present for her family and friends with open arms and a listening ear. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcome, loved, and safe.
Her wisdom guided many, and her words left lasting impressions on countless souls. Susan was held in the highest regard by all who knew her, and her presence will be profoundly missed and never forgotten.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a beloved great-grandmother. But above all, she was a friend to all — a beacon of warmth, strength, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Esther, and her younger brother, Daniel. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, her youngest brother, Craig, who is married to Deborah, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 17 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, followed by a gathering at the family ranch.
