Mary Teresa “Terry” Hancock Green passed away on March 6, 2026, in her home in Breckenridge, Colorado. Born to Diane and Frank Hancock, Terry grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, alongside her three siblings. She spent her weekends at the beloved family lake house on the shores of Smith Mountain Lake, fostering a love for adventures and nature.
After graduating from James Madison University, she made her way west in search of good times and great memories. A series of happy accidents landed her in Breckenridge, where she married her husband of 32 years, Stace Green. Together they enjoyed many adventure days exploring Colorado, camping, and laughing the entire time. Her daughter, Littlepage, grew up glued to her mother’s side as Terry exemplified everything women are capable of. While interior design was her career, she found a passion in crafting props for the Backstage Theater’s stage productions. She had an incredible mind built for creativity. Like many who find a home among the Rocky Mountains, Terry loved camping in her cherished vintage trailer “Justine”, and often hosted camping trips with her friends where she came up with crazy games and good food. She wore many hats during her time in the mountains: interior designer, unofficial camp host, crazy prop lady, and mom. Terry exuded unconditional love. She will be remembered fondly for her incredible sense of humor and smile. For her kindness that knew no limits. For being a wonderful mom.
Terry is preceded in death by her mother, Diane Connelly Hancock. She is survived by her husband, Stace; daughter, Littlepage; her father, Frank Hancock; and three siblings, Karen Cassidy, Frank Hancock, and Carolyn (Shubie) Hall.
Because Terry touched lives in both Colorado and Virginia, celebrations will be held in her two favorite places. An informal celebration of life will be held in Roanoke, VA, for friends and family at her father’s house, 2906 Avenham Ave SW, on April 4th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Another celebration of life will be held for the Breckenridge family and friends on June 20th; more details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Terry’s name to the Dwight Brill Fund or the National Parks Foundation.
